Orillia, ON – The Mclean & Dickey Orillia Terriers had a busy October, with seven games this month. The team showed resilience, securing five wins and two losses, improving their standing and proving they’re a force to be reckoned with.
OCTOBER RECAP
- Oct 4 vs. Alliston Hornets – The Terriers started the month with a tough matchup against the Alliston Hornets, ultimately falling 7-3. Alliston’s Jaeden French led the charge, netting a hat trick. Jordan Fuller picked up two goals in the loss, but the Hornet’s power play proved effective, and Alliston pulled ahead with several third-period goals, closing out the game decisively.
- Oct 5 vs. Midland Flyers – Returning to home ice at the West Orillia Sports Complex, the Terriers bounced back with a decisive 6-2 win over the Midland Flyers. Orillia scored three first-period goals, with Finn Price, Lleyton McLean, and Cody Zachariah each finding the back of the net. Dylan Palomaki added two more goals in the second, while Jordan Fuller capped the scoring with a power-play goal. Despite a pair of goals from Mackenzie Selbie for Midland, the Terriers’ offense and defense controlled the game.
- Oct 12 vs. Penetang Kings – In another home game, the Terriers edged out Penetang in a tight 4-3 victory. The Kings opened the scoring with a goal from Wyndham Brownlee, but Orillia answered in the first with a power-play goal by Dylan Palomaki. Josh Presley gave the Terriers the lead in the second, followed by goals from Palomaki and Colton Dumond to extend it. Despite two third-period goals from Penetang’s Tanner Thayer and Cole Rumbolt, the Terriers held on for the win.
- Oct 19 vs. Alliston Hornets – The Terriers fought hard but couldn’t clinch the win, dropping a 6-4 decision to the Alliston Hornets. Alliston took an early lead, with Nick Lamont and Cole Turcotte scoring in the first. Orillia’sLleyton McLean responded in the second, netting two goals to keep the Terriers in the game. Alliston capitalized on the power play in the third with goals from Turcotte and Duncan Grube. Late goals from Colton Dumond and Dylan Palomaki closed the gap, but an empty-netter from Will Millington sealed the game for Alliston.
- Oct 20 vs. Innisfil Spartans – Hitting the road didn’t slow the Terriers down, as they rallied in the third period to beat the Innisfil Spartans 5-3. Orillia opened scoring in the first with a goal from Jordan Fuller, but Innisfil responded with three consecutive goals, taking a 3-1 lead early in the third. Jordan Fuller’s shorthanded goal sparked Orillia’s comeback, followed by goals from Dylan Palomaki, Lleyton McLean, and an empty-netter from Finn Price to seal the win.
- Oct 25 vs. Huntsville Otters – The team showcased their defensive prowess, beating Huntsville 4-1 in a decisive away game. Orillia struck early with a goal from Caden Carroll and added to their lead with a power-play goal from Dylan Palomaki in the first. Palomaki continued his dominance, scoring twice more a power-play goal in the second and a shorthanded goal in the third—to complete his hat trick. Strong defense and goaltending helped the Terriers hold off Huntsville and secure the win.
- Oct 25 vs. Muskoka Bears – Wrapping up October on a high note, the Terriers edged out Muskoka 3-2 in an intense game. Muskoka took an early 2-0 lead in the first period with two goals from Jacob Budney. Orillia responded in the second with a power-play goal from Dylan Palomaki and continued their comeback in the third. Palomaki struck again on the power play to tie it, and Lleyton McLean scored the game-winner with another power-play goal, sealing the Terriers’ victory.
